BUILDING THE QUINTESSENTIAL MAN-NEHEMIAH AS A STUDYCASE

NEHEMIAH :A GREAT EXAMPLE FOR THE TOTAL MAN- THE QUINTESSENTIAL PERSON:
From 7am tomorrow morning, I will have the privilege to speak to men. Real Men. 7am on a Saturday morning is not your best time. You look forward to that time on those days to chill out and relax, extra sleep, having woken up on 5 previous working days to go to work. So, I understand the sacrifice. God must then reward the men who show up. However, against the background of the need to find that man, that teachable man that is crying out for purpose and essence of God’s call on his life, it is worth it. The sacrifice, which shall be a call for knowledge and wisdom every first Saturday of every new month until further notice, will surely pay off. You are invited.
The man is so essential in the affairs of God’s mandate, and the nation; to advance, to lift, to enlarge, to pull down, to root out, to destroy and to throw down, and to build and plant. Jer 1:9-10.  In the positive and against the negative. The man is key. Looking through the Bible, it is evidently clear that one of the few men that changed the course of a people/nation is Nehemiah. Reading that book alone makes it abundantly clear, that he was a quintessential man. A businessman, a goodly man, a godly man, a man of focus, determined and ‘vocationed’. A man who used his relationship with God, to obtain the favour of the King. He went ahead and deployed, in the most inspiring manner and achieved his purpose and God’s plan. He is a man worth emulating.
For example, in the book of Nehemiah, the word ‘so’ occurs thirty–two times. The significance of this is a picture of the man Nehemiah that is portrayed. It denotes a man of action and few words. Someone said, mark this word in your Bible and notice how this ordinarily unimportant word stands out in this book. So what next in your career, so, what next in the business, so, what next in your marriage, so what next in your investment and in your life.
What next? So the sessions starting tomorrow will give us the opportunity to ask those questions, wonder how far we have gone in the race of life, measured how far we have achieved of our God given gifts and talents, and how we can indeed move from where we are to where we should be. We are going to use the book of Nehemiah to discover answers to these questions. It’s going to be destiny defining session(s), with everyman having a say.
The key verses for this book are: (1) “And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven” (Neh. 1:4) and (2) “The God of heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build,...” Nehemiah 2:20“And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?” (Neh. 6:3). “Remember me O my God, for good” Neh 13:31
