Gambling winnings-Can Pastors sue on it?

CAN A PASTOR SUE A MEMBER WHO REFUSED TO PAY ON WINNINGS FROM GAMBLING-My thoughts.

What is a Pledge-
is like a loan(commitment without security-unsecured loan)..Like when u give a personal recognisance. If you fail no one can hold it against u or your property, but it is held against your person and character and integrity. (Note that it's used interchangeably in the bible with a vow)

What is a Vow-
on the other hand a vow is secured. You secured it with your being and as a bond.  So it's impossible not to pay it. If u don't pay voluntarily, u will pay by force! Jephthah is a good example :-Judges 11:30 as example of a redeemed vow. Mal 3:8-11 is an example of bondage that comes with unredeemed vow, and blessings for vow redeemed.
For vows, (exceptionally) in fact u don't need to make a vow directly, there are some embedded covenant vows that automatically came into force the day u gave your life. Examples are Tithe, righteousness. Deut 28:1 onwards. You are familiar with the verses.

In practice:
Laws of the law and laws of the Lord are different in operation. Law of laws-no mercy whereas law of the Lord comes with mercy. James 2:13. Mitigated by mercy over judgement, but compared to the old law which is an eye for an eye. Ex 21:24, again contrast with Mt 5:38-42.

The Law:
If someone makes a pledge, and fails to pay up...she/he may not be held liable, unless there are written terms that obligates her to pay and prescribe the consequences of non-payment.
If she made a vow, however, it's a spiritual covenant -whether she wrote it down with terms or not. She must or she's advised to pay.

In its application,
some churches nowadays apply the full ambit of the law because everything is run by law. Some church members are also known to threaten to use the law to get their tithe back!!
But the church of grace and mercy will not be legalistic....and would not even contemplate any action against the lady, no matter the provocation.

On whether gambling is good or not, the bible is clear on it. There are many scriptures on this, that are well canvassed. Pro 13:11. The bible encourages us to plant and wait for growth and then harvest.  However like some other things, the fact that u play lottery does not take your salvation away, it just shows u can't or have not reached a stage where God can be trusted to meet your needs (Deut 8:18; Ps 34:10; Mt 6:33) or you still have some fleshy lust that you need to deal with and which if care is not taken, may show up against you in future.

Against this background, personally I don't think I will consciously preach it, but if u bring lottery money, I will consider it as a charitable deed and sanctify it. God accepted alms from Cornelius, whilst still an unbeliever. Acts 10:1-4.  Motive therefore is key as a Christian, if u don't gamble, do you however steal or are fraudulent? See James 1:27 for true religion.

Be blessed. Just my opinion.

    1. After reading an article and PTA opinion. I can say if VOW is made unto God Numbers 30:2 and Pledge is NOT MADE TO GOD BUT TO MAN and it a financial pledge. Permit me to say the pastor was right to sue the woman. He is suing not as a pastor but as a man.Abi !
My brother or sister this pastor can not allow the Law of the Lord to take over .This is not a vow it is a modern day financial pledge. IT IS MADE TO PASTOR NOT GOD.
The pastor too get emotion ke😷
