LIFE WORTH DYING FOR.

Essentially it has been said that the time of birth and the time of death are very significant.
The reasons why we say they are significant are because we see Birth as the miracle of a life being celebrated. Unless we want to deceive ourselves, we know that not all births are celebrated. Some are sad when they have children; some are sad by the circumstances of birth, and some children are born in unpalatable circumstances. No wonder then, that what you consider precious is an object of ridicule, pain, and eventual abandonment to others.
Someone says: Your birth is a mistake you'll spend your whole life trying to correct.

Another reason for saying birth is significant is that you are introduced to a wide new opportunities at birth
Birth is the sudden opening of a window, through which you look out upon a stupendous prospect. For what has happened? A miracle. You have exchanged nothing for the possibility of everything.
William MacNeile Dixon quotes

Birth is the beginning of death
Thomas Fuller quotes

How about Death? We say it’s significant because some see it as a celebration of Life; so people say they want to give a befitting burial for a life well spent; some celebrate it as a good departure from this evil world, a chance at last to see the Master. Egyptian kings and royals were mummified with precious valuables including gold and chariots etc as a way of offering convenience in the after life. Thousands of years after, it became apparent that these valuables were only preserved for grave rogues and our museums for historical antiquities. Only if they knew!

But even if you insist despite all that Birth and Death are that significant, my question would be: to whom does it become significant? Look I say again but to whom? I submit that to someone else rather than you. Look at it this way, your birth afforded your parents and their friends the excuse to celebrate and throw a party. No matter the argument that may be proffered for such a party, I will say to you that you can only celebrate me if I am conscious of the value of your celebration. You can’t say you are celebrating me when I was barely 8 days old and within a folding of arms and innocent in a warm embrace. I knew nothing and probably cried through it or slept all through, with the occasional yawning, indicating someone is bored.
At death, it’s even worse! Those who probably were not as caring when you were alive become suddenly the most caring, and render the cries of baby’s mere starters with their eerie lamentations. So I say neither Birth nor Death is that significant to you. Wow!! You say…Wow I say.

But why: you may still want to ask? My answer is because you do not have a hand in either your birth or your death.

But why again you may ask? My answer is again pragmatic: you got the two free!!! And if you find yourself receiving or getting things free, especially in this part of the world e.g. UK, then there is a trouble ahead. For example, if you are living in your accommodation free, it means someone else is paying for you…one day the payer will chuck you out. If it is the government that is paying for you, it means you are technically homeless, indigent, you should be very worried. If you go to the pharmacy, and your prescription is free, then your diagnosis and prognosis indicate someone with a serious ill-health or you are over 70 and retired…you are closer to the grave. If you queue for money every week or fortnight it means you are broke, unemployed and not credit worthy…You have no control of your life anymore.
I say you have no hand in it: whatever you have no hand in…is most definitely out of your control, when your circumstance is no longer controlled by you, your destiny beggars’ belief.

To be continued...
