FUNDAMENTALS OF PRAYERS-3 'tools of Adoration, praise and thanksgiving'

Welcome   back. In part 2, we considered 'adoration' as part of prayers. In fact it's the first step we need to take for an   effective   prayer session. Within Adoration, I touched on   reverencing   God, thanking him and   praising   him. In   this   part I want to look at the 'tools of adoration, praise and thanksgiving' 1. Our Heart Our heart must be right before we adore, praise or offer   thanksgiving  to   God. You can't adore God with an unclean heart. An unclean heart is an unforgiving heart. Your heart, for the purpose of this article is your soul. Your soul needs to be ready and joyful to magnify the Lord. Luke 1:46.   Ps   42:2;   Ps   63:1 O God my God, early will I seek you, my soul thirsts for you, my flesh longs for you in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. That state of heart and soul, is a ready-made for adoration, w hen you are in  state of total reverence to God.  Once you capture and place your heart right, worship is

FUNDAMENTALS OF PRAYERS-2

Last time we looked into the general introduction to prayers. We found an acronym sifted out of Jesus guidelines to prayers. In this part I want to share my thoughts on the first letter in the acronym A A=Adoration  What does it mean to adore someone. It is the act of paying honour , reverent homage and fervent and devoted love. With regards to adoring God, It goes on deeper. It goes beyond just appreciating him. It extends to honouring and acknowledging him as the Father, Abba father. 'Our father in heaven' 'Hallowed be your name' Mere saying that as an opening to any prayer, brings God's attention to bear on your prayers . You call Him Father, and you show immediately that you honour him. You acknowledge that the prayer is directed to no one but Him. This is not yet the stage of thanksgiving. It is the stage of devotion. To adore him for what He is, not what He has done for you...not yet. What has He done as a Creator. You can spend time on the good

THE FUNDAMENTALS OF PRAYER

Prayer has been described as communication with the Lord. A conversation with God. It gives us an opportunity to commune with our Creator. He desires to speak and listen to us. Just as He desired it for man(Adam) in the garden of Eden before the fall. Gen 2:8 'in the cool of the morning' Despite the simplicity of this mutual expressions. It seems that over the years, the mode and style of prayers have become cumbersome or at times beleaguered. There have been 'prayer merchants and warriors' and many people have either been discouraged or belaboured with the 'obligations' associated with prayers, that fewer people feel dissatisfied with their prayer life. The hours to pray, how long, how much, the level of your voice, the things you pray for etc have made a simple communication with God, a 'headache'. The above is not unusual. In Jesus' days, there were all sorts of prayers and expressions. For example The Pharisees and Sadducees show off-

November-Great month of answered prayers

NOVEMBER: MY GREAT MONTH OF ANSWERED PRAYERS I welcome you to an awesome month. A month of peculiar prayers, and great expectations of answered prayers. The earth is thirsty for water. We will pour our souls out unto the Lord and He will help us satisfy the earth. Angels are waiting to take our prayers by ascending and descending just like Jacob’s  ladders. Gen 28:12. WHY PRAY Prayer is essential in the life of a Chritian and some said, the currency of heaven is praise, but I say the currency on earth is in prayer denominations.  ‘Pray when you feel like praying, pray when you do not feel like praying, pray until you feel like praying. In 1Sam  12:23 , the bible says ‘Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against God in ceasing to pray for you. The prophet saw prayerlessness as a sin. No wonder Paul, in his letter to the church in Thessalonica says ‘pray without ceasing’ 1Thess  5:17 ’ Jesus, also admonished us by saying ‘men ought to pray and not faint’ Luke 18:1

WOULD SHE FOLLOW YOU BLINDLY?

Guys, I have a poser Q: 'A wife will follow her husband blindfolded if she is convinced that the husband knows where he is going? True or False? A:The question is straightforward: The best way is to ask, like I always counsel:  What is this poser saying ? How is it said? Why is it said? What The questioner is interested in three key words (words if not present would make the sentence nonsense. What are the effective words? 1. Follow 2. Convinced 3. Going  Take those out, the sentence is unreadable. The 'what' of the question is-'can a follower follow without being convinced the leader is going somewhere' And the other side of the 'what' is the subject matter: wife and he(husband). So this is a marriage talk. How How should you resolve this poser. What poser? Would a  wife blindly follow a husband! A seeing husband or a looking husband. See Jer 1:11 and Zechariah 4:1-7 for the difference between seeing and looking. Ba

Destiny 6(c)-Sanctification

Jer 1:5...I sanctify you When God has ordained you, given you an assignment, He finds joy in sanctifying you. At this stage, He sees you as part of Him and a vessel to carry out His assignment here on earth. 1 Cor 3:9 says that we are Gods fellow workers, God's fields and God's building. People see you and effectively can see God in you. You have become the epistle that people read. 2 Cor 3:2-3 'you are our epistle, written in our hearts, known and read by all men, clearly you are the epistle of Christ' If you are God's building, you better accept to be properly built with no faulty foundation.  Ps 11:3 says if the foundation be wrong what can the righteous do.  Ps 127:1-2 confirms that can anyone build a house that God is not building or watch over a city that is watch-less by God? No Way Sin is sin. No sin is greater or smaller. The most important thing is to be sensitive to what you say or do or even think!  Anyone on Gods side or assignment must be

Destiny-(6b)Ordination

Jer 1:5...I ordain you... The fourth pillar is ordain. God having seen the work of your hands and your passionate heart will find you and choose you for ordination. The joy of ordination is the joy in salvation. At this stage you have moved away from being an ordinary Christian to a working Christian. What does it mean to be ordained: The modern definition of  ordination is “the investiture of clergy” or “the act of granting pastoral authority or sacerdotal power.” Usually, we think of an ordination service as a ceremony in which someone is commissioned or appointed to a position within the church. Often, the ceremony involves the laying on of hands. However, the biblical definition is a little different. The word ordain in the Bible refers to a setting in place or designation; for example, Joseph was “ordained” as a ruler in Egypt ( Acts 7:10 ); the steward in Jesus’ parable was “ordained” to oversee a household ( Matthew 24:45 ); deacons were “ordained” to serve the J

Destiny 6(a) Being known

Jer 1:5 Before I  formed you in the womb  I   knew   you; Being known by God is also being known by the enemy . He will look out for you as God himself looks out for you. Let not God knowing you be left in the past, let it stay in the present tense. As we take the last 3 pillars of the series on destiny, it is important to note that we have entered into the most captivating and yet important stage.  When God said he knew Jeremiah and in effect he knows us. What does He mean: I believe the perception or insight is in two ways:  1. He knew us before he formed us, even before we got into our mother's womb as tiny seed fertilised. This does not mean our souls were existing somewhere before we were born, or our souls had been formed somewhere, and God allocated the souls to us at conception. (This is the belief of some non Christian faith). It is that God is omniscient. That is, God knows everything that can be known about a character. He has complete unlimited knowledg
