DISCLAIMER: This is an article that someone sent to me. I found it quite interesting and most challenging. I am hoping to write a rejoinder, but I am still not in a good frame of mind to do just that yet...however, I wish my followers on this blog could comment...

ReplyDeleteInteresting piece by Rotimi Ogunsiyi. His arguements attempts to be convincing but failed to do so. He, like many escape from Igogo-Ekiti and shuffles around illinois in Gucci shoes, writes articles and condems others whilst actually doing nothing himself. He dances around all the problems which we are already aware of but profers no solution. If he does not like the way Nigeria is, then he should go there and change it!..show us how stupid we have been and how clever he is. The world is a dangerous place not becase of those who do evil but those who look on, critisize and actually do nothing.
As the saying goes..we are all inclined to judge ourselves by our ideals; others, by their acts.

ReplyDeleteI'll say to you exactly what the Lord said to Martha, Luke 10 vs 41-42: "Martha, Martha, the Lord answered, you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what IS BETTER and it WILL NOT be taken away from her."
"So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, It WOULD NOT BE RIGHT for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God IN ORDER TO WAIT ON TABLES"!! (the hyphens are mine)..it goes on "and will give OUR ATTENTION to prayer and the ministry of the word." Acts 6 vs 2-4. I do not wish or want my general overseers, pastors serving tables..I want them to pay attention to prayer and ministering God's words and in my opinion what u ask is for them to leave the meat of the work to focus on the bones, to focus on what perishes rather than what is eternal..there is already enough diversion in the world today distracting people from their true calling, we don't need one more.

You did not share with us what it is that you have done, but you'd rather tell us how bad things are, you'd rather point fingers than profer valuable solutions...they say those who can't do - teach..don't let us believe that about you, next time send us a solution - invite us to be a part of a cause that you have started to raise awareness rather than blogging about how stupid you think we your country men are...the tone of ur email says something about who u r and where u r and does not qualify u to be taken seriously as someone who is ready and equipped to make a difference..the same difference that u r so eager to point out that others are not making.
The same immaturity you blatantly call Nigeria out on cannot be eradicated by the immature but the mature...those who know where they've been and where they are going and have a map on how to get there.
We are all upset with the state of Nigeria, but rambling on about it throwing insults everywhere will not solve the problem.
I'll leave with this: intellectual discussions can be had without the crass, and on an intellectual note: how did communism fare in China, Russia and the rest of Eastern Europe when all faith based teachings were disallowed, why was it not enough to eradicate poverty? why did it leave them much more improvished than they began?
