ANOINTED TO MULTIPLY(5) In the final analysis (1)
Having understood that we have not been called to poverty, and that we have been redeemed for prosperity and to multiply, it is therefore our responsibility to ensure that we jealously guard the wealth and the inheritance that God has bestowed on us. I have some suggestions:
There is a fable by Aesop which wonderfully bring out these lessons. It's the fable of the farmer and the goose that laid the golden eggs. It is said that this farmer became broke and desired wealth. One day he found a goose in his farm. This goose lays a golden egg everyday. The farmer was excited and would take the egg to the market and sold each one for good money. However, the farmer could not wait patiently for a daily laying of the golden eggs. One day he grabbed the goose and opened its belly hoping to take all the eggs inside it. Unfortunately the farmer did not find any egg and also lost the goose. He experienced a regrettable end and suffered from his foolishness.
Two important lessons:
1. Ensure that you master the fact that nothing lasts forever. Get out of Instant gratification. Do away with pursuing immediate reward. Get out of impulsive spending.
2. Master the art of delayed gratification. Forego immediate reward and enjoy a lasting reward. Everything and anything can be delayed.
Against the fable, we can sift out 5 principles:
1. When God want to bless you, with golden eggs he will give you a goose that will lay them. When you pray for money , God gives you a job, a biz. You won't find money under your pillow, no matter how much you pray.
2. God often uses your familiar goose to lay the golden eggs. What will prosper you is already in your hands. Your skills, talents, giftings etc. There is an oil in your house. 2 Kings 4:1-7
3. To receive a continuous supply of golden eggs, we must take care of the goose that lays them. Look after yourself, look after your staff if you are an employer, look after your family.
4. When we pay more attention to the golden eggs than the goose, we will eventually lose both! Don't neglect your source and concentrate on the result. That source may dry out.
5. Our golden egg will be laid on a steady basis day by day. Be patient! A journey of a thousand miles start with one step. Don't be in a hurry. There is a season for everything. Ecclesiastes 3:2
Be wise.
We will consider scriptural perspective of these lessons in the next part of this conclusion.
