WIRED TO PROSPER(8) ABRAHAMIC LINK- COVENANT RELATIONSHIP
God gives to and blesses the people that He has covenant relationship
with. Usually they are people that he has trusted to look after His wealth in
their custody. It is apparent that once God established a heart of total
obedience in Abraham, through various forms of obedient acts, including
paying his tithe 'of all', He entered into a covenant with him.
Genesis 15:1 "Do
not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward' When
Abram could not understand that phrase, he requested to know how God would
bless him and bring the promise in his life to fruition. He asked God 'what
would you give me, seeing I go childless...' God responded by assuring him and declared
in verse 5...'Look now towards heaven, and count the stars if you are able to
number them. So shall your descendants be' What transpired after Abram believed
God, and it was counted to him for righteousness, was a ceremony of covenant and blood See Gen 15:9-21. Despite Abram's error in Ishmael, God reassured him in Gen
17:1-4. My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. Circumcision
followed in verse 10-11. The rest we can say is history.
We know from Jeremiah 33:19-22 that God's covenant
cannot be broken. His covenant with David will last forever.
Furthermore, with the covenant comes secrets of God's
blessings. Job declared in Job 29. As
it was in the day. When God's glory was with Job. Secrets belong to the Lord. What's not revealed is
concealed. Until you are sanctified you cannot know. Every of God's blessings is released via the word. Act
20:32 'so now brethren, I commend you to
God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an
inheritance among all those who are sanctified' This passage clearly states
that until you are sanctified and in the word, you cannot lay hold of the
inheritance.
In 2 Peter 1:3 we know that He has given us all
things. But you can only claim it through knowledge.
Therefore, if you operate in obedience, you have a
covenant relationship with Him, you will be able to flow in the revelation of
His secrets, and partake in His inheritance. Deut 28:1 confirms that you must diligently
hearken to His word before blessings can come.
Joshua 1:8
again tells us 'this book of the Lord' shall not depart from us, but that we
should observe to do according to its precepts. Only then will good success
come.
