WIRED TO PROSPER(7)
It is worth tracing how Abraham obeyed God.
Apart from the fact that he left home to a strange land on the call of God. He heeded the call of God to pay Tithe.
In Leviticus 27:30 it is stated 'all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord's. It is holy to the Lord.
In Genesis 14:20 Abraham paid tithe of all. You are first empowered to give and then empowered to prosper. Paying a tithe of all you receive, including tithe on your business is a gateway to prosperity. As we know, divine prosperity is accessible to all but obtainable only to the obedient. God is not a respecter of persons. He shows no partiality. Act 10:34. He does not discriminates between the Jews and the Greeks when he comes to obedience. Romans 10:12
Abraham also showed obedience in keeping God's covenant of circumcision. Genesis 17: 10 This is my covenant which you shall keep, between Me and you and your descendants after you. Every male child among you shall be circumcised, and you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins,...' In verse 24, the bible tells us that Abraham was ninety nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.' Not many people will subject or submit themselves to such a painful experience without giving old age as an excuse.
In Genesis 22:2, God requested Isaac, Abraham only son, to be sacrificed. Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you. We can just imagine how many of us would have reasoned out this request. How could one explain sacrificing an only child, a child one had waited for, for 25 years? But but the bible tells us that Abraham, woke up very early and prepared himself and embarked on the journey to sacrifice his son. Genesis 22:3
It is therefore apparent, that either in the area of his finances, in the area of integrity and in the area of sacrifice, Abraham was willing to give God all, and obey God in everything. Through his obedient, he showed complete trust and confidence in God. The depth of this understanding is revealed in Hebrews 11:19 'By faith Abraham was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his begotten son, of whom it was said"In Isaac your seed shall be called", concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead...'
It is to the extent of your obedience, that God will commit to your custody eternal blessings.
